Following on from the earlier posted story here is VLC player, I myself have been using for years, as it was the only thing capable of playing broken AVI's, half downloaded video files, no need to go hunting for CODECs, all at a decent speed on my lowly Duron, it also allowed me to play DVDs without having to waste setting the "Region" setting on my drives which over players demanded (Windows Media payer, PowerDVD etc.)
At one time there was even a Amiga OS version which sadly has vanished, but its availible for almost any OS you can think of.
